Great post, you have really simplified the process of achieving .gov & .edu links, on the other hand however such blogs & forums use the nofollow attribute as its become a spamming issue with people simply trying to get there backlink count up. I suggest checking if the blog/forum uses the nofollow attribute before wasting time posting on them.

    Great article though. =)

Matt Cutts said that edu and gov backlinks carry no more weight then a dot com. But a link is a link, and even if Google does not give it more weight maybe Yahoo or Live does. Thanks!

Thanks man for this great piece of information. But on second comment above, how can I check if a blog or a forum is using a no-follow attribute?

Is the attribute publicly visible, or do you have to ask the site owner?

    Dar,

First, you need to view source. Then, see if there is this attribute “rel=’nofollow” in the link tag. If it’s there, it means that the link fill not be followed.
